Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) is a fantasy roleplaying game in which players are characters in a continuing fantasy story. Our D&D Dungeon Master will guide your child through various adventures and challenges that create opportunities to practice problem solving, cognitive flexibility, multitasking, attention, creativity, decision-making, and leadership.
PROGRAM PURPOSE AND GOALS:
Enhanced Social Skills and Communication:
D&D requires players to communicate their character's actions, ask questions, and respond to others, providing ample opportunities for practicing clear and effective communication. Players adopt the perspectives of their characters, which can improve empathy and understanding of different viewpoints. Acting as their characters can help players practice interpreting social cues, tone, and gestures within a structured, low-pressure environment.
Building Cognitive and Problem-Solving Skills:
In D&D, players face a variety of challenging situations and must work together to address the problem, learning to cooperate, collaborate and problem solve with their fellow players, and plan how to utilise their abilities in unique and creative ways to overcome obstacles. They also strengthen maths skills with adding bonuses to rolls and damage and tracking character hit points.
