PROGRAM PURPOSE AND GOALS:
 
Social Skill Development and Communication:
Interacting with animals, baking, and crafting together provides different types of social engagement, helping children practice social skills in various settings. The activities encourage turn-taking, teamwork, and conversation, which help children learn to communicate effectively and build friendships. While working with animals and collaborating in baking projects the children foster empathy, cooperation, and respect for others' needs, promoting positive social dynamics.
 
Improved Emotional Regulation and Self-Awareness:
Caring for animals can be soothing, helping children reduce stress and self-regulate in a calming, structured way. Many children find the presence of animals comforting, which helps them manage emotions. When the children are baking/ creating it requires them to pay attention to detail and have patience and promotes mindfulness. This helps children slow down, focus on each step, and practice self-regulation in a low stakes setting.
