The Youth Chill group provides neurodiverse teens with the opportunity to meet like-minded peers in a safe facilitated environment. The group is purposefully casual and representative of typical teen ‘hang out’.
PROGRAM PURPOSE AND GOALS:
Sense of Belonging and Reduced Isolation:
Being part of a group where others share similar struggles can help youths feel that they are not alone, promoting a sense of normalcy and acceptance. Regular interactions help youths build friendships, reducing feelings of loneliness and creating a strong support network. A structured group setting provides a judgment-free space where youths can express themselves without fear of being misunderstood.
Promotion of Personal Growth and Self-Awareness:
Group therapy encourages self-awareness by helping youths reflect on their experiences, strengths, and areas for growth. Facilitators will guide discussions that help participants clarify their goals, values, and interests, fostering a strong sense of self. Adolescence is a time of self-discovery, and group therapy provides a safe space for youths to explore their identities and express themselves.
