At Diverse Pathways, we believe that every young person deserves a space where they feel seen, supported, and celebrated for who they are. Our Groups program is designed with this philosophy at heart—providing neurodiverse children and young adults with opportunities to connect, create, and grow in a safe, inclusive environment.
Whether it's through art, sport, animal care, cooking, gaming, LEGO, Pokémon, or even Dungeons & Dragons, our Groups are more than just fun activities—they are life-enriching experiences that build confidence, friendships, and real-world skills.
Why Group Programs Matter
Neurodiverse individuals often face unique challenges in traditional social or educational settings. Group programs provide an alternative path—one that prioritises strengths, nurtures interests, and fosters a sense of belonging. At Diverse Pathways, our groups are run by experienced facilitators who understand how to support different learning styles, communication needs, and sensory preferences.
Tailored Activities with Real Impact
Here’s how each of our group activities supports development:
Art Group: Encourages self-expression, emotional regulation, and creativity. Participants explore various materials and techniques in a pressure-free environment.
Sport Group: Builds teamwork, coordination, and resilience through inclusive physical activities tailored to all ability levels.
Animal Care Group: Provides a calming, therapeutic experience. Learning to care for animals can teach empathy, responsibility, and non-verbal communication.
Cooking Group: Supports life skills, independence, and sensory exploration. Young people learn to follow steps, work together, and gain confidence in the kitchen.
Gaming Group: Offers a social outlet where strategy, problem-solving, and collaboration shine. Games are used as a springboard for connection and communication.
LEGO Group: Encourages fine motor skills, planning, and imaginative play. It also promotes teamwork through cooperative builds and shared challenges.
Pokémon Group: A fan favourite! This group creates common ground for passionate players while building memory, maths, and turn-taking skills.
Dungeons & Dragons Group: This roleplaying adventure is a powerhouse for social learning. Participants practice perspective-taking, teamwork, storytelling, and flexible thinking.
More Than Just Fun
While these groups are engaging and enjoyable, they’re also evidence-informed and outcome-focused. Each session is designed to:
Support social communication and connection
Build executive functioning and problem-solving skills
Increase self-esteem and resilience
Encourage community participation
Provide a sense of belonging and identity
Participants have the opportunity to discover their strengths, explore interests, and be part of a community that truly values neurodiversity.
Parent and Carer Feedback
Parents and carers frequently share how much their child looks forward to their group sessions, often seeing noticeable improvements in mood, confidence, and social skills. One parent told us, “My child has finally found their people. The transformation in their self-confidence has been incredible.”
